1)      You have 24 hours that you must devote to something brings you joy. What would you do with the time?

  • It would not be just one thing. I am happiest when I can multi ask and do many things in any day. First I would simply sit and watch the sun rise and breath in the Chi that accompanies it. Next I would climb a tree and hang from a branch by my knees to stare at the world upside down. Before arthritis entered my life ( as a result of an injury) , that and hanging upside down on moving swings were some of my absolute favorite things in the world to do. If I could do that one more time in my life , I would become orgasmic with joy ! Then I would go to the woods and just walk and breathe. Then I would return home and spend with he Phoenix and Biscuit simply goofing around. Then I would drag out my sewing machine and make something functional, wrapping it up in time to cook something smashing. Steak Braciole comes to mind. In the evening I would go to my mom’s house and sit by the fire pit singing, telling stories and just laughing till it hurts. I would go home and have incredibly satisfying sex with Phoenix. Happily, that is exactly how I spend a lot of days- minus the hanging upside down part and visit to my moms.

2) Who is your favorite author, and is there a particular book of that author that you feel everyone should read and why.

  • That’s a really hard one! I have several favorites for many different reasons. Homeschooling ones, science ones, pagan ones, cookbook authors, plant field guides. One current author I am really loving is Christopher Penzack , because he has the ability to pull threads of importance from several schools of thought and weave them into a rather substantial bit of cloth. Edgar Allen Poe, Nathaniel Hawthorne, Shakespeare, Fanny Farmer, Lewis Carroll- all amongst my favs. One book- Spoon River Anthology by Edgar Lee masters. Why ? Because it will show what is possible if you let your mind open. The book is a collection of short poems/essays about the inhabitants of a Grave yard in the Spoon River Valley, and the ephitaphs that the names on the headstones could have written themselves. I have read that book about a hundred times and I still get some new inspiration each time I read it. I try to do the same for the headstones I find in any cemetery I visit.

3) I know you husband sings, and that you are very musical as well, what is your favorite music to listen to for enjoyment?

  • Once again, I don’t have any one genre that I love and listen to for enjoyment. I have favorites from almost every genre- Sting, Chopin, Mercy Me, Dead Can Dance, Rolling Stones, CSNY, Emerald Rose, Michael W Smith, The Newsboys, Alice Cooper, Frank Zappa, Heather Nova, Joe Jackson, Adam Ant, Eddie Rabbit, Lorena McKennit are just a few. We have an obscene amount of recorded music here, and are constantly buying more. Then again sometimes I love to just listen to myself play , or Phoenix sing spontaneously, just for me . Music to me is a lot more than just an enjoyable listen- for me it has the power to heal, to sooth, to energize and more

  • 4) Thrifty person that you are, what is your most favorite thing you have acquired/purchased?

Okay , I am definitely suffering from multiple personalities it seems, for I don’t have one favorite with these ! My Kitchen Aid mixer ( for free), my bread machine ( 2 bucks brand new) , my  carpet sweeper, my guitar ( a big expense some 17 yrs ago- 200 dollars)  my denim jumper ( 2 bucks at the Goodwill), my sewing machine  and my French Press coffee pot that I use for straining herbal tinctures.

5) Where do you see yourself 20 years for now?

* As a grandmother, perhaps finally answering the age old question of what I want to be when I grow up. Perhaps having finally written the book that several keep telling me I should write.
